Spring Reflections

April 07, 2012

After the winter that technically 'wasn't'; spring 2012 will be remembered as having one of the earliest ice out dates in record books.  The lake went ice free on Tuesday, March 20th.  The lake levels are low as expected; but it is as beautiful as ever.  The salix and lilacs are leafing out, the grass is green and the daffodils inch their way upward each day; it's a sensual time of year.  One finds a quiet in the northwoods that doesn't exist in many places, certainly not in the city; we are lucky to be here.

Already we are busy with plans for ongoing improvements and repairs; as well as the anticipation of welcoming back our many returning guests and meeting the new couples and families who will join us for this the 99th year of continuous operation as a summer resort.
