When you stay at Burntside Lodge, you have at your disposal a wide variety of activities. From listening to the common loon on the lake, to hiking in the forest, to paddling the lake in a canoe or kayak, there is little left to be desired on your vacation. You have the leisure to do as much or as little as you wish.

Relaxing at the water's edge
  • Visit Emily Wahlberg's Burntside Heritage Tours for information about her two-hour pontoon boat tour of Burntside Lake
  • Portage a canoe to Hegman Lake to view the Native American pictographs and enjoy the scenery
  • Play a game of Sand Volleyball in our regulation size court
  • Swim in our crystal clear waters
  • Cruise the lake by motorboat
  • Heat up in our Finnish Sauna
  • View the northern lights
  • HOWL! Participate in a wolf howling at the International Wolf Center. With resident wolves, exhibits, displays and a learning environment, this represents an experience not to be missed

  • Visit the Dorothy Molter Museum and learn about "The Root Beer Lady," the last woman to live in the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area
  • Tour the Tower-Soudan Mine, a journey beneath the earth
  • Visit the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary. Learn about black bears by observing them in their natural habitat.
  • Have a picnic on the lawn watching your children play on the playground
  • Golf at Ely's 9-Hole course
  • Ely offers the conveniences of a small town only 6 miles away from The Lodge. There are small shops, antique stores, book and gift shops, and grocery stores in town
  • Pick seasonal blueberries, raspberries, or wild flowers
  • relax...relax...relax...
